T’puram: CPI state executive is learnt to have directed the party’s Thiruvananthapuram district committee to serve a show-cause notice to former minister C Divakaran over his recent public remarks.Divakaran has faced criticism from CPI for some time over his critical remarks against CPM. However, what prompted the CPI state executive action was his praise for chief minister V D Satheesan and his commendation of Shiv Sena.Divakaran was dropped from the party’s higher committees after CPI decided to strictly enforce its age restrictions. He is now attached to the CPI district committee. Whether he will face disciplinary action over his comments will depend on his reply. Divakaran, however, said he had not received any such notice.Divakaran had told news channels that former CM Pinarayi Vijayan should not have become the leader of opposition. He had also made remarks critical of CPM over the controversy surrounding the deputy opposition leader’s post. Though CPI state secretary Binoy Viswom had also been critical of CPM over the issue, the party brass is generally not in favour of other functionaries making remarks that could strain the CPM-CPI.Speaking at a programme, Divakaran had said he was happy for Satheesan and that Keralam’s future was safe in his hands. He said Satheesan had proved this during the first 100 days of his tenure.Another instance that provoked the CPI leadership was Divakaran’s presence at the Saneesotsavam programme organised by Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction, where he praised the party.
