Kolkata: A youth in Bagdah died after drinking poison with his girlfriend, a minor, on Friday. The girl is in hospital. The girl’s family had opposed the match. “They met in a field ahead of Valentine’s Day, the boy reportedly put sindoor on her head, and the duo drank poison,” an officer said. Allegations surfaced the girl’s relatives assaulted the youth. His family lodged a complaint against her family for abetment of suicide and assault. Cops started a probe. tnn
