Jaipur: City police Friday busted a gang accused of targeting temples across multiple police station areas and recovered nearly 500 gram of stolen silver ornaments, cash and other religious items.Deputy commissioner of police (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said the accused confessed to committing thefts at more than six temples under the jurisdictions of Khorabisal, Harmada, Bindayaka, Kaladera, and Govindgarh police stations. The gang conducted reconnaissance during the day and struck at night, breaking locks and decamping with valuables.
The case came to light after Ramu Lal Sharma (50), president of Shri Gwala Baba Seva Samiti, lodged a complaint at Khorabisal police station on Feb 8. He reported that between 1am and 2am, four thieves broke the locks of four temples and the main gate in Mansharampura and stole silver and gold temple umbrellas (chhatra), crowns, a throne, bowls, a nose ring of Sita Mata, a ceiling fan, and the donation box of a Shiva temple.
