Hyderabad: A day after six individuals, including a DJ, tested positive for drug abuse at an event held at Taramati Baradari, they were shifted to a rehabilitation centre in Erragadda.Among those who tested positive was a couple with an eight-month-old infant. The baby was not present in the event. Officials from EAGLE also inquired whether the woman had breastfed the child while under the influence of drugs; however, it was confirmed that she had not.On Sunday evening, all six individuals were admitted to the rehabilitation centre, where they will remain until April 23.While the DJ tested positive for amphetamines, the other five individuals tested positive for ganja. Authorities learned that nearly 400 people attended the event, titled “More Than Friends,” on Saturday night. After gathering information about the people who came to the party, they zeroed in on 35 persons who were on the radar of the agency as drug abusers.According to the police, those who tested positive include a model and aspiring artist, three businesspersons (including the couple), and an analyst working in a pharmaceutical company. The accused claimed they had consumed drugs prior to arriving at the venue.“Without disrupting the event, our teams conducted a surprise check using urine testing kits. We suspect one of the six individuals may have disposed of narcotics upon noticing the police presence,” EAGLE officials said.Authorities are now gathering information about the supply network to trace the source of the drugs. Family members of the six accused will be contacted to ensure they undergo de-addiction programmes, stated EAGLE officials.Golconda police have registered a case against the six individuals.This marks the second such case in the past week involving enforcement action at special events hosted in pubs. Recently, seven individuals were caught at an event in Kondapur. Furthermore, officials are gathering information about potential drug abusers by who booked the tickets for the event.
