Patna: Congress members staged a protest in Patna on Thursday against the shortage of LPG and rising prices. Participants gathered near Income Tax Golambar in the afternoon and raised slogans such as “lower the price of cylinders” and “stop the atrocities against the common man”.Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram led the demonstration and said the entire country is facing a severe LPG shortage. He said, “The public is forced to stand in lines for hours. The situation has turned tragic; reports of elderly citizens losing their lives while waiting in lines in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are deeply saddening and alarming.”Ram demanded that the govt immediately restore gas supply, fix responsibility for the shortage and reduce cylinder prices without delay.
He said the situation reflected mismanagement by the central govt and alleged that the administration has failed to meet basic needs while ministers remain busy with campaigning. The leader also highlighted how the policies of the Modi govt have left the public distressed due to rising inflation. He said the shortage has disrupted domestic kitchens and extinguished cooking fires, while rising costs have hit the poor and middle class.Several senior leaders participated in the protest, including Madan Mohan Jha, Prem Chandra Mishra, Kapil Dev Prasad Yadav and Rajesh Rathorre.
