Ranchi: A Congress delegation led by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi met chief minister Hemant Soren for over an hour here on Thursday. Gogoi was accompanied by AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh and AICC’s Jharkhand affairs in-charge K Raju.Gogoi’s visit came days after Hemant addressed a public meeting in Assam and announced to form an alliance of his party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), with the newly formed JBP to contest in the upcoming Assam assembly poll.“Slowly, everything will be known to you all. With assembly poll expected soon in Assam, lots of discussions are underway to chalk-out strategies. I think something better will happen this time in Assam,” Hemant said after the meeting at Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha on the sidelines of the ongoing budget session of the state assembly.JMM, which was left out of the alliance by Congress and RJD in the Bihar assembly poll, is eyeing 19 ST reserved seats in Assam. In last the two months, Hemant has already made few trips to tea belt areas in Assam to address rallies to assess the political situation.Before meeting Hemant, Gogoi said the meeting will revolve around several issues. “Ahead of Assam poll, many Jharkhand Congress leaders have a key role to play, and this visit is a part of the ongoing deliberations,” he told reporters before the meeting. Congress insiders in the state said Gogoi’s meet was a part of the party’s efforts to take all like minded parties along ahead of Assam polls.Gogoi’s visit came days after Hemant addressed a public meeting in Assam and announced to form an alliance of his party with JBP
