Garhwa: A 50-year-old man was charred to death after his bike collided with a car on NH-343 on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Shambhu Prasad Gupta, a resident of Obra village under Garhwa police station limits.Police said Gupta was returning home with a plastic jerry can of petrol which he had filled at a petrol pump near Loto village. On his way back, a car hit his bike. The impact of the collision caused the jerry can to explode and the petrol caught fire. Gupta’s vehicle was burnt and he sustained burn injuries. Gupta was taken to Garhwa Sadar hospital, where the doctors referred him to Ranchi. He died on the way, the police said.Sunil Kumar Tiwari, the officer in-charge of Garhwa police station, said a probe has been initiated.
