T’puram: Inter-college transfer is set to become easier for students following four-year undergraduate programme (FYUGP). Govt has accepted recommendations of state-level FYUGP monitoring committee and forwarded the same to universities for further action.Currently, students are only permitted to transfer between colleges in the third and fifth semesters. However, students have long requested the opportunity to transfer in other semesters as well. The unified exam calendar in place as part of FYUGP would enable students to transfer colleges in the fourth, sixth and seventh semesters as well. Software systems like K-Reap facilitate easy credit transfers for students. In this context, students can now apply for college transfers at the beginning of fourth, sixth and seventh semesters, in addition to third and fifth semesters. “If the current college does not offer the option to pursue honours with research, students can transfer to a college that provides such facilities during the seventh semester,” higher education department sources said.
