Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao alleged that the Congress govt in Telangana is functioning like a ‘bulldozer govt’ and accused chief minister Revanth Reddy of betraying minorities.Harish also criticised the govt for demolishing houses in Hyderabad under the HYDRAA initiative, stating that while the BRS govt constructed one lakh double-bedroom houses for the poor, the present govt has failed to build new houses and has instead demolished many homes. Drawing a comparison with Uttar Pradesh, Harish Rao said the governance style of CM Revanth resembled that of a bulldozer govt.“Just like the bulldozer rule in Uttar Pradesh under Yogi Adityanath, Telangana is now witnessing a similar style of governance. Revanth Reddy has become Telangana’s ‘Chota Yogi’,” he remarked. Harish said the govt’s plan to demolish 10,000 houses along the Musi river has created fear and uncertainty among poor families living in the area.Speaking at various iftar party meetings on Saturday, Harish said K Chandrasekhar Rao, during his tenure as CM, gave special importance to the welfare of minorities and ensured that imams and muezzins received honorariums, a step not taken by earlier govts. He said that during the BRS govt’s tenure, official iftar dinners were organised across the state and Muslims were treated with respect and dignity. He added that under KCR’s leadership, the govt ensured 24-hour electricity and safe drinking water, resolving hardships that minorities earlier faced during Ramzan. Harish also accused the Congress govt of stopping the Ramzan Tohfa scheme in districts.
