Ahmedabad: A car driver, allegedly involved in an accident, drove about 500 metres with a senior citizen desperately clinging on to the car’s bonnet and telling the driver he wouldn’t file a complaint if he got down safely.The horrifying scene was caught on video. The events unfolded near Khodiyar Temple, Nikol, around 10.30pm on Friday. After the car, bearing a Surendranagar registration number, was involved in a crash, the elderly man approached the driver in an apparent attempt to stop him and make him understand the seriousness of the situation. At that point, the video shows the driver accelerating, striking the senior citizen, and trying to flee the scene. The elderly man then ends up on the bonnet of the car. The video catches the terror of the senior citizen flailing on the bonnet for about 500 metres. The elderly man eventually manages to get down from the car. Nikol police inspector V S Vaghela said, “No complaint has been received, nor did anyone approach police.” Vaghela added, “A video clip has gone viral, and the driver is seen speeding away with the elderly person on his bonnet. We will identify the vehicle based on the numberplate.” The viral video of the car driver’s reckless acts has sparked outrage online . Police have begun an investigation in the case.
