New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday attended the ‘India Innovates 2026 – World’s Biggest Hackathon’ at Bharat Mandapam, where she lauded young innovators and urged them to play a greater role in shaping the country’s future.The event, which drew thousands of participants and delegates from across India, focused on themes such as artificial intelligence, robotics and civic innovation. Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta said the youth were not just exploring technology but actively building solutions to improve cities, strengthen democratic processes and make society more inclusive.Describing India’s young population as its biggest asset, chief minister said the country’s demographic advantage would be key to its rise on the global stage. “The energy, skills and determination of young people from every corner of the country are India’s greatest strength,” she said, noting that over 60% of the population is youth.Highlighting the scale of the hackathon, CM said more than 5,000 participants were selected from over one crore applicants. She added that their ideas and innovations would shape the future of governance, economy and society. Encouraging participants to contribute to building ‘Delhi 2.0’, she emphasised the need for solutions that combine technology with trust and inclusivity.Chief minister also reiterated govt’s commitment to integrating innovative ideas into governance systems to improve transparency, accessibility and efficiency in public service delivery.
