New Delhi: To tighten control, improve traceability and prevent the misuse of outdated product codes in the liquor supply chain, Delhi govt has announced fresh brand registrations for 2026–27 along with a reset of liquor barcodes — an annual exercise undertaken at the change of the financial year.“On March 31 at 23:59:59, the validity of all active SKUs will expire automatically in the system. After this time, no licensee will be able to conduct trade using these SKUs unless the validity is extended,” an official said.In Delhi, every liquor product — based on its brand, size and type — is assigned a separate Stock Keeping Unit (SKU), a unique identification code, used to monitor stock, sales and movement, generate barcodes and ensure regulatory compliance. From April 1, fresh SKUs will be issued to enhance supply-chain control and traceability. The official said the move is aimed at ensuring better traceability and regulatory control. The excise dept has warned of strict action for non-compliance.
