NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has uncovered an inter-state racket involved in trafficking stolen mobile phones from Yamuna Vihar, recovering 83 devices that were allegedly being smuggled to Bangladesh through West Bengal, officials said on Sunday.Two suspects were caught on the spot while they were reportedly packing the phones for delivery. Initial investigation suggested that the consignment was meant to be sent illegally to Bangladesh using courier routes via West Bengal.Based on specific information received on March 27, a Crime Branch team carried out a planned raid at a rented house in Yamuna Vihar. After confirming the inputs, the team searched a premises at B-42, Gali No. 13, near Momin Chowk.Police said the operation was conducted carefully despite the sensitive area and the possibility of crowd gathering. The team reached the third floor of the building, where the accused were operating.During the search, officers found a sealed carton containing 83 stolen mobile phones of various brands.During questioning, the accused told police that the phones were supplied by a person identified only as “Danish”.
