NOIDA: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed preparations for the inauguration of Noida International Airport and held a review meeting with public representatives and senior officials.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the airport and its cargo terminal on March 28 and lay the foundation stone for the maintenance, repair and overhaul facility.The chief minister reviewed the route and inspection points designated for the Prime Minister and assessed preparations at key locations, including the passenger terminal, cargo terminal, rally venue, parking arrangements, approach roads and helipad.“In view of the proposed programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gautam Budh Nagar, I conducted an on-site inspection of the Noida International Airport, reviewed the preparations and held a meeting with concerned officials and public representatives, issuing necessary directions,” the chief minister’s office posted on X.He chaired the review meeting at the airport auditorium with public representatives and senior officials. “The arrangements must be well-organised and effective, considering the expected presence of public representatives, distinguished guests, media and a large number of citizens at the inauguration programme,” the chief minister said.He directed that all essential arrangements — such as smooth connectivity to the venue, cleanliness, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, sanitation facilities, security arrangements, traffic management, transportation, fire safety, medical services and signage — be completed well in advance, along with regular monitoring of all works.Special instructions were issued to ensure adequate facilities at parking areas for visitors arriving from various districts, including mobile toilets, help desks, drinking water and medical services. The CM also directed adequate deployment of administrative and police personnel, along with volunteers, across all blocks at the venue to assist attendees.During the meeting, officials from the administration and police informed him about security arrangements, parking, traffic management and alternative routes. A four-tier security system will be implemented for the event.The meeting was attended by minister-in-charge Brijesh Singh, Noida MP Mahesh Sharma, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, additional chief secretary Deepak Kumar, Yamuna Authority CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh, police commissioner Laxmi Singh, district magistrate Medha Roopam, special secretary Ishan Pratap Singh and NIAL nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia.The airport is being developed in four phases, with a dedicated cargo terminal. In its first phase, it will operate with one runway and one terminal, handling up to 12 million passengers annually. Once fully completed, capacity is expected to reach 70 million passengers a year, making it one of the region’s key aviation hubs.In Nov 2021, the foundation stone for the airport was laid by the PM, with the project envisioned as a logistics gateway for north India and a multimodal transport hub.Three airlines — IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express — have confirmed plans to operate from the airport, with initial routes expected to connect Noida to major cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Ticket bookings are likely to open about a month before operations begin.
