Noida: A 40-year-old man died and two others sustained injuries after the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling overturned on Bhangel Elevated Road on Saturday night, police said.According to an initial investigation by police, the vehicle was overspeeding and the driver applied brakes suddenly, which led to the accident. A case has been registered in the matter and the driver was arrested, an officer said.According to police, the deceased Saghan Sarkar, a resident of West Bengal, lived in Aghapur in Sector 49. He worked at a garment factory in Phase-2. The injured person, Vaijanti Devi (45), a resident of Darbhanga, Bihar, currently lives in Kulesra in Surajpur. She was travelling to her house from Phase-2.The SHO of Phase-2 police station Avdesh Pratap Singh said Sarkar was going to the factory for his night shift when the accident took place. “The deceased was sitting behind the auto-rickshaw driver along with the woman passenger. The auto driver, who was driving at high speed, lost control at the Bhangel Elevated Road turn and the vehicle turned upside down,” he said.A team from Phase-2 police station reached the spot and took the victims to a nearby hospital. Sarkar was declared dead on arrival while the woman’s condition is said to be stable now. The auto-rickshaw driver also received minor injuries and was released from the hospital.“The driver Kamlesh Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, Bihar, has been booked under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. The auto-rickshaw has also been seized,” Singh said, adding that further investigation is under way.
