Bhubaneswar: Around 50 speech- and hearing-impaired girls and persons with physical disabilities from Seva Foundation, Keonjhar, met chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi at his official residence on Saturday.Majhi interacted with them and discussed their concerns, skill development and measures for self-reliance. He was informed that the girls are receiving training in sewing and handicrafts through the organisation.Majhi said several textile industries are being set up in the state and advised that the trained girls be linked with these units to create employment opportunities. He said the govt is committed to the social and economic security of persons with disabilities and will work to provide them suitable opportunities for self-reliance.Majhi said the govt will provide housing to disabled children across Odisha and ensure basic facilities such as cooking gas connections, toilets, education and healthcare. He said steps are being taken to help persons with disabilities access govt schemes and lead secure lives.During the interaction, Majhi reviewed the support being provided through hearing aids and artificial limbs. He directed the administration to provide high-quality hearing aids through CSR funds and govt schemes as per requirement.The visitors also toured several places in Bhubaneswar. On the CM’s instructions, the administration has made special arrangements for their visit to Puri tomorrow for darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
