Mysuru: In light of the war threat in Gulf countries, chief minister Siddaramaiah took appropriate measures to protect Kannadigas. He also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the matter, said Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait.“People from Mysuru travelled to the Middle East region for employment, and some went to Mecca and Medina and are now stuck. So far, no one faced any trouble. Attacks are occurring only where the US base is located. All our people are safe. The process of bringing everyone back is underway,” Sait said on Thursday.“There is a group called ‘Mysureans in UAE’. Through it, we are trying to understand the situation. Currently, our Mysureans do not face any problems. Everyone is safe,” claimed the former minister.“Ahead of the state budget presentation on March 6, there are expectations that the CM Siddaramaiah will announce significant contributions to his home district of Mysuru. There is a promise of appropriate funding for the comprehensive development of Mysuru city. We also provided some suggestions to emphasise health, education, and job creation,” said Sait.Compensation for accident victimsIn an incident where four female students drowned in a river, compensation of Rs 2 lakh each was distributed to the families of the deceased from the chief minister’s relief fund. The cheque distribution event took place at the Mysuru zilla panchayath office under the leadership of MLA Tanveer Sait, who represents the Narasimharaja assembly constituency.The tragedy happened when the students who were studying at a madrassa in Udayagiri, Mysuru, entered the water during a school trip, near Arakere in the Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya, on Nov 1.Four students—Ayesha Banu, Ummehani, Saliya Tarveen, and Afreen—lost their lives.Given the financial hardship of the bereaved families, the MLA demanded appropriate compensation. Parents, overwhelmed with grief from losing their children, accepted the compensation cheques with tears.
