Jaipur: Jaipur’s municipal polls are throwing up an unusual generational contest, with BJP and d. Congress fielding young first-timers alongside seasoned political hands, making age a distinct subtext of the battle for the JMC boarTogether, the two parties have nominated 18 Gen Z candidates and 23 senior citizens. The contrast is sharpest in Wards 10 and 115, where young candidates will face veterans from the rival party.“Among the 150 wards of JMC, Wards 10 and 115 are expected to be key clashes of generations. In these wards, Gen Z candidates and senior citizens will lock horns representing the two main parties,” said senior Congress leader and candidate Iqbal Qureshi.In Ward 10, BJP’s youngest nominee, 21-year-old Palak Yadav, faces Congress veteran Sanjana Devi, 62. In Ward 115, 29-year-old BJP candidate Suraj Godiwal is pitted against Congress’s oldest nominee, 67-year-old Suresh Biwal.BJP’s other young nominees include 22-year-old Yash Ranawat in Ward 119, 23-year-old Shalu Meena in Ward 150, and 29-year-olds Nidhi Jain and Ajay Tepan in Wards 143 and 63.Congress has fielded 12 candidates aged between 21 and 29. Its youngest, 21-year-old Faiz Hasan, is contesting Ward 71. Manvendra Singh and Suman Bhati, both 22, are in Wards 95 and 72, while Harshita Jain, 23, and Sharuti Bhardwaj, 26, are contesting Wards 46 and 88.Mohammed Sohail Mansuri and Vandita Sharma, both 27, are contesting Wards 128 and 18. Asha Saini and Sanjay Badodia, both 28, are in Wards 148 and 55, while Salman Mansoori, 29, contests Ward 137.At the other end, BJP has 10 candidates aged 60-plus and Congress 13, with Shravan Bohra, 66, and Biwal, 67, among the oldest nominees.
