Mangaluru: The state-level Chinnara Mela, organised by Alva’s Education Foundation and Alva’s Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, was inaugurated at Kannada Bhavana in Moodubidire on Sunday. Inaugurating the programme, foundation president M Mohan Alva highlighted the importance of enthusiasm and time management in life, noting that camps led by Dr Jeevan Ram Sullia significantly contribute to the overall development of children. Recalling his childhood, Alva said he began hostel life at a young age, which helped him grow independently. “Through cultural platforms, I had the opportunity to travel to countries like the Philippines, Japan, and England. However, my parents never got to witness my performances. Today, it is heartening to see parents encouraging their children and providing them with such opportunities,” he said. He stressed the importance of learning beyond classrooms, adding that life itself is an open school. Speaking on the occasion, CA Umesh Rao Mijar emphasised that academic marks alone do not define success and that participation in co-curricular activities is equally important for holistic development.
