Udupi: Manipal police arrested four accused in connection with the kidnapping of a man and successfully rescued the victim following a coordinated interstate operation. The accused are Ramanath Shreenu, 30, Mohan Ramavath, 22, Paramesh, 30, and Palthya Vijay, 25, from Devarakonda taluk, Nelagonda district, Telangana.According to the complaint, on March 31, at 8.15pm, Rama Madivala of Dasaramakki, Kundapur taluk, approached the police station and reported that his brother Lakshman was brought to KMC Hospital, Manipal, for treatment. While the complainant, along with his brothers Rajesh and Sudheer, was having tea at a canteen outside the hospital around 12.15pm, a group of seven to eight people arrived in a black car without a number plate. They allegedly attempted to catch Rajesh, who initially tried to escape but was eventually overpowered, forcibly taken, and driven away towards Hiriyadka.The complainant stated that the accused were known to them, having previously visited their house in connection with business dealings. The accused are Mallareddy, Tulaja, Narasinga, Hussain, Shankar, Nagesh, Parameshwar and Vijay. The kidnapping was allegedly linked to a business dispute in Telangana.To crack the case, a special team was formed under the leadership of Manipal police inspector Mahesh Prasad. The team included PSI Thimmesh BN, Udupi Cyber Police PSI Sudarshan Doddmani, and other staff members.Acting on leads, the team traced the accused to a lodge at Govindapalli in Karimnagar, Telangana. In an operation at 3.30am on April 9, police arrested four accused. They also seized two vehicles used in the crime, without a number plate.The kidnapped person was traced and safely rescued. Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim collected money for investment trading and failed to provide returns, and hence the accused kidnapped him. Further investigation is underway.
