Mysuru: Chamarajanagar district has identified 82,991 voters under the categories of absent, shifted, dead, duplicate, and others (ASSDO) during the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, which concludes on Saturday.These voters have been marked for deletion following door-to-door verification conducted by booth-level officers (BLOs) across all polling booths. According to a status report released by the district electoral officer on Wednesday, of the 82,991 voters classified under the ASSDO category, 30,878 were identified as deceased, 35,148 as shifted, and 7,551 as duplicate entries.Chamarajanagar district has 8,80,224 registered voters spread across 983 polling booths. Enumeration forms have been distributed to 7,94,521 voters, and their details have been digitised.Despite the distribution of the forms, nearly 10% to 15% of voters have yet to return them for digitisation, officials said. They added that a majority of voters have also not provided information related to the 2002 electoral roll.Speaking to TOI, Chamarajanagar DC Srirupa said the district administration has widely publicised the need for voters to fill out, sign, and return the enumeration forms to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs). She warned that the names of voters who fail to submit the forms before the deadline could be deleted from the electoral roll.Meanwhile, Chamarajanagar district Congress functionary P Mariswamy urged the Election Commission to publish the ASSDO list on its official website and extend the enumeration exercise by a few more days, noting that nearly one-tenth of the voters in the district’s assembly constituencies had been classified under the category. Although the district electoral office has marked 82,991 voters as ASSDO, a majority of those identified were unaware of their inclusion in the list, he claimed.
