Chikkamagaluru: BJP MLC CT Ravi came down heavily against the Congress, alleging that cabinet expansion was marked by corruption, regional imbalance, and a lack of women’s representation. He said Chikkamagaluru district had been left with “complete disappointment”. He said it was an insult to the people of the district that none of the five Congress MLAs from there were inducted as ministers. “At one point, the district had three cabinet-rank ministers. Today, Chikkamagaluru has no representation in the cabinet. This shows that the Congress doesn’t take the district seriously,” he said.Ravi also criticised Congress for announcing MLC Gayathri Shanthegowda’s name in the initial list of ministers and later dropping it. “This is not the conduct expected of a political party. Announcing a name publicly and then denying it later causes personal and political hurt,” he said.He also accused Congress of contradicting its stand on women’s empowerment. “The Congress, which constantly talks about Priyanka Gandhi and women empowerment, has not given a single woman a ministerial berth,” he added.Ravi further targeted the induction of B Nagendra into the cabinet despite serious allegations against him.
