Mandya: Unrest within Mandya Congress over the state cabinet expansion has surfaced during a meeting in Srirangapatna convened to gather opinions on the appointment of the party’s new district president.In the presence of party observers, workers voiced dissatisfaction with the current district leadership and sought the removal of district Congress president CD Gangadhar.The meeting witnessed heated exchanges, with workers accusing the district president of failing to strengthen the party organisation and alleging that he had resorted to “adjustment politics”. They also blamed the district leadership for not effectively representing the district’s interests before the party high command.Workers expressed resentment over Ramesh Bandisiddegowda being overlooked for a ministerial berth despite his electoral record. They pointed out that the Bandisiddegowda family has been associated with politics for nearly four decades and alleged that the family had repeatedly been denied its due recognition.They questioned how the party could expect workers to remain motivated when senior leaders from the district were overlooked.The developments come days after a similar episode of dissent at a party meeting in KR Pet. Senior party leaders and observers tried to pacify the agitated workers and restore order, but the meeting remained tense as workers reiterated their demand for a change in the district leadership.
