IMI has announced the appointment of Chahat Mishra as Head – Internationalisation and Global Engagement, effective August 24, 2026. Part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, IMI is India’s first corporate-sponsored business school. In this role, Mishra will lead the internationalisation agenda across IMI’s three campuses in New Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, with a focus on building strategic international partnerships, fostering cross-border academic collaborations and expanding opportunities for students and faculty to engage with the global academic community.Mishra will be based in Delhi and will report to Dr. Suresh Ramanathan, CEO, IMI. His mandate involves positioning IMI as a globally connected institution by building strategic alliances with leading international universities and networks, while expanding opportunities for global learning, mobility, research and joint projects. He will drive initiatives that bring the world into the classroom and take IMI’s students, faculty and academic capabilities to the world. My endeavour will be to create purposeful, enduring partnerships that translate into meaningful opportunities for learning, research, industry engagement and global exposure.”Mishra brings extensive experience across international relations, institutional strategy, global partnerships, international business development, strategic marketing, corporate sales and wealth management. Prior to joining IMI, he served as Head – International Relations at Great Lakes Institute of Management, where he led the function across its Chennai and Gurgaon campuses. He has also worked with Woxsen University as Head – International Relations and Strategic Development. Earlier in his career, he held strategic roles with organisations including Bajaj Allianz Life and Valuefy.
Mishra’s academic background spans general management, marketing, accountancy and finance, complementing his professional experience across the higher education and internationalisation landscape. He serves on the Advisory Group of the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), UK, and is an International Advisory Board Member of UASI. He is also a regular speaker and contributor at leading global higher education platforms, including AACSB, EFMD Global, AMBA, CABS, UN PRME, GBSN, GRLI, QS and Times Higher Education (THE).
Recognised for his work in advancing the internationalisation of higher education, Mishra has championed initiatives focused on diplomacy, strategic partnerships and international collaboration. He was also presented with the Indian Achiever’s Award 2020–21 by the Indian Achievers’ Forum for outstanding professional achievement and contribution to nation building.
