After completing their courses, eligible candidates can secure lateral entry into the second year of diploma programmes. Apart from ITI students, candidates from courses run by the state’s Technical Education Department are also eligible.Sources indicate that around 35,000 seats are available for admissions under this scheme across polytechnic colleges in Gujarat. As per existing rules, 10% of the total intake in diploma engineering is reserved for such candidates. However, following recent legal developments, even vacant seats in colleges are now being filled through this admission process, increasing the overall availability.
