Kanpur: The Cell for Differently Abled Persons (CDAP), Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, organised a session on ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)’ with the objective of fostering awareness about disability-related biases and challenges and promoting a more inclusive and equitable environment.Addressing the programme, head, CDAP, Prof Anubha Goel, highlighted the importance of awareness, accessibility and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. In the inaugural address, chairperson, Students’ Placement Office, IIT-K, Prof Manjesh Kumar Singh, spoke about the facilities and support available through the Students’ Placement Office for students with disabilities and emphasised the need to ensure equal access to career opportunities.The session included an interaction with Sandeep Bidani, an Inclusion Catalyst and Co-Founder of Saarathee CRM Ltd. A global HR professional with over 25 years of experience, Bidani is recognised as India’s first senior HR leader with a disability.Saarathee CRM Ltd is a national award-winning organisation recognised for its work in technology-led disability inclusion.Bidani introduced participants to the work of Saarathee and its efforts to help organisations create more integrated and inclusive work ecosystems for persons with disabilities. Bidani also discussed the current landscape of persons with disabilities in India, with particular emphasis on the experiences and challenges faced by women with disabilities.The programme concluded with a Vote of Thank
