Kanpur: Divisional Commissioner Vijeyendra Pandiyan on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the UP T20 League, which is scheduled to begin at Green Park Stadium on Aug 28.The review meeting was held at the Divisional Commissioner’s auditorium and attended by officials of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and various govt departments. Pandiyan directed all departments to ensure better facilities for players, spectators and visiting guests and complete all arrangements in a time-bound manner through close coordination.The Divisional Commissioner directed the municipal commissioner to undertake a special cleanliness drive at Green Park Stadium and its surrounding areas. Arrangements should also be made to tackle the menace of monkeys and stray dogs, prevent garbage accumulation and deploy an adequate number of sanitation workers.Reviewing power arrangements, Pandiyan stressed the need for uninterrupted electricity supply during matches. He directed officials to keep alternative arrangements, including mobile transformers, ready to deal with any contingency. KESCO officials were asked to inspect the power supply system at Green Park and rectify shortcomings.Forest department officials were instructed to prune trees wherever required and trim bushes in and around the stadium to ensure a clean and safe environment.The police and traffic departments were directed to prepare an effective traffic management plan for match days. Officials were asked to ensure smooth movement of vehicles, streamline parking and deploy adequate police personnel at entry and exit points in view of the expected crowds.Contingency arrangements for emergencies were also emphasised.Pandiyan directed the health department to ensure adequate medical facilities, ambulances and first-aid arrangements at the stadium. The fire department was asked to inspect the stadium and surrounding areas and ensure that all fire-safety arrangements and equipment were in place.
