Ramgarh: A Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) security guard posted in Barkakana was shot at from a close range by motorcycle-borne unidentified gunmen at Jamuriya market of Sayal in Ramgarh district on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.The injured security guard was immediately taken to the CCL hospital in Bhurkunda, from where he was referred to a hospital in Ranchi. His condition is said to be critical.Upendra Kumar, in-charge of Bhurkunda police outpost, said the security guard from Sayal was shot in a local market. He sustained a critical bullet injury. Police said that the cause of the attack was not known. A country-made pistol, 15 cartridges and two magazines were recovered from them, he said.“A police team led by Hatia DSP P K Mishra arrested Pankaj and Riyansh from an open ground with illegal arms and cartridges. On being questioned, the accused persons said they were awaiting instructions from their gang leader, Rahul Singh, to start firing in the city. Based on their information, Ashwani was also arrested in the city.”Police said Ashwani is a key member of the Rahul Singh gang and was previously a member of the Aman Singh gang. His main roles were to make arms and ammunition, and mobile phone numbers of traders available to the gang, and prepare extortion messages.
