Shimla: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in the district court here in connection with the mysterious death of state power corporation’s chief engineer Vimal Negi last year. The court on Tuesday fixed April 28 as the next date of hearing for the defence. Copies of the chargesheet will be provided to the accused, including IAS officer Harikesh Meena, Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited former director (electrical) Desh Raj, and suspended assistant sub-inspector Pankaj Sharma. The high court transferred the investigation to CBI on May 23 last year, raising serious concerns over the probe conducted by the Shimla police’s special investigation team. Negi went missing from Shimla on March 10 last year, and his body was later recovered near Gobind Sagar Lake on March 18. His family alleged that he was subjected to harassment by senior officials of the power corporation prior to his death.
