Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) will construct 29 multipurpose high-tech examination buildings-cum-strong rooms at 29 locations in 27 districts at a cost of Rs330.07 crore. Administrative approval has been granted to the building construction department after technical approval.Bihar development commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh on Friday said 1-1.5 acres of land has been identified for each facility. Two buildings each will come up in Madhubani and Samastipur, while the remaining districts will have one each.Each facility will accommodate up to 4,000 candidates simultaneously under 24×7 CCTV surveillance. The buildings will also serve as storage and evaluation centres for answersheets, besides housing confidential examination material, including facilities for barcoding and scanning.At present, competitive examinations conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission, Bihar Staff Selection Commission, Bihar Technical Service Commission, Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission and other departments and commissions are held at schools and colleges at the district level. This affects internal examinations and regular teaching. The new facilities are expected to ensure that academic activities continue without disruption.The strong rooms can also be used to store sensitive election-related material, reducing disruption to teaching in schools and colleges during elections. The facilities will have fire alarms, firefighting equipment and disaster-management systems. The school or college concerned will operate the facility after handover.
