Patna: A 35-year-old worker was found brutally murdered in Muzaffarpur and his body was found inside his rented room on Chankyapuri Road No. 6 on Friday. The victim’s eyes was gouged out, raising suspicion of a violent assault, said police.His wife and two children, who had been living with him, are also reportedly missing. He had been staying in the rented house with his wife and two children for around two-and-a-half months. He worked as a daily-wager and had taken the room on a monthly rent of Rs1,800. Further investigation is underway, police said.The deceased was identified as Upendra Paswan, a resident of Raghopur village under Minapur police station area.The body was found after a milkman arrived at the house on Friday morning to deliver milk.According to landlord Shiv Shankar Singh, the milkman regularly supplied milk to two tenants in the house. After delivering milk to the first tenant, he went to Upendra’s room and knocked on the door. “When there was no response, he found that the door was only partly closed. He pushed it open and saw the man’s body inside,” Singh said.The milkman then raised an alarm, following which the Dial-112 emergency response team was informed. Ahiyapur police and Dial-112 team reached the spot soon afterwards and began an investigation.Town-II SDPO Kartikeyan K A also inspected the crime scene. Police questioned the landlord and people living in the vicinity to gather information about Upendra’s activities and any possible dispute.One of the major aspects being examined by investigators is the absence of Upendra’s wife and children. Police are trying to ascertain when and under what circumstances they left the house and whether their disappearance has any connection with the murder.The landlord said he had no information about any dispute within the family.“Upendra used to live here with his wife and two children. I don’t know about any dispute among the family family members,” he said.The police also called in a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to collect scientific evidence from the room and surrounding area. Investigators are examining the scene for fingerprints and other evidence that could help identify the assailants.Ahiyapur SHO Sharat Kumar said, “We received information about the death of a person at Chankyapuri. Police are currently investigating the entire matter.”Further details are expected to emerge after the postmortem, forensic examination and questioning of people connected with the victim, the SHO added.
