Noida: Residents of Sector 99 have complained about broken footpaths, loose interlocking tiles, frequent sewer overflows, and a lack of green spaces. The sector, home to over 5,000 residents across residential plots and apartments, is centrally located and well connected to the Noida Expressway. Despite this, residents alleged their civic complaints remained unresolved.Concerns have intensified due to a lack of attention from the Authority over pending grievances, residents claimed.“We constantly face sewer overflow issues in the sector. Apart from that, the footpath and streets are broken, interlocking tiles are loose and pose a threat of accident,” said Vinod Chaudhary, general secretary of the Sector 99 Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA).According to residents, the problem has persisted for a long time.In Jan, Narottam Sharma, the RWA president of LIG flats in Sector 99, filed a complaint about clogged sewers and dirty, foul-smelling water coming out of taps in these homes. Residents had also complained of lack of upkeep of green spaces, significantly affecting the quality of life. Poor waste disposal and outdated or insufficient electrical infrastructure are also adding to residents’ woes here.“No horticulture work is done in the sector. We cannot sit idle while there’s all-around civic neglect,” said Choudhary. “We constantly face water supply issues and poor electrical infrastructure. Despite repeated complaints, there’s no redress.”“The residents are now rallying to demand intervention from the Noida Authority CEO, seeking immediate redress of all pending issues, maintaining the ecological balance and protecting public spaces from encroachment by private interests,” said Rishipal Singh, another resident.A response from the Authority is awaited on the matter.
