Bettiah: Body of an unidentified youth was recovered from a pond on Kalibag temple premises at Bettiah in West Champaran district on Tuesday morning, police said.According to locals, devotees who had arrived at the temple for morning prayers spotted the body floating in the pond and immediately alerted the police. A large crowd gathered at the spot soon after the incident came to light.A team from Kalibag police station reached the place and, with the help of local residents, retrieved the body.During the investigation, police recovered a bicycle parked near the temple gate. A bag tied to the bicycle contained a few clothes and a mobile phone charger. However, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.Kalibag SHO Ajay Choudhary said, “The cause of death will be known only after the postmortem report is received and the identity of the deceased is established.”Authorities have also shared the deceased’s photograph and other available details on social media to help identify him.
