Nagpur: BJP city unit on Friday sought reconsideration of the blanket ban on DJs. A delegation led by city president Dayashankar Tiwari met police commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil and discussed the order’s impact on festivals and on people dependent on the DJ and sound-system trade.According to the BJP, the commissioner indicated that bass sound, which causes greater vibrations and contributes significantly to noise pollution, would continue to face restrictions, while top and mid-range sound systems would be permitted subject to prescribed norms.The party said this approach would balance noise control by allowing celebrations within permissible limits. Tiwari said the administration should weigh citizens’ concerns, law and order, environmental protection and the livelihoods of thousands linked to the industry while framing regulations.A key point raised by the delegation was that the rules should not target any particular festival or community. The BJP said the commissioner assured them the norms would apply year-round and uniformly to religious, social, cultural and public events.The BJP argued that uniform rules would prevent confusion among organisers and ensure the regulations were not perceived as targeting any particular community or celebration.MLAs Krishna Khopde and Pravin Datke; city general secretaries Shrikant Aglawe, Ritesh Gawande and Sandeep Jadhav; ruling party leader Balya Borkar; and corporators Laxmi Yadav and Dilip Dive were among the party functionaries in the delegation.
