Ludhiana: Alleging a deterioration in the law and order situation in the city, BJP leaders Monday staged a protest outside the office of Ludhiana police commissioner Swapan Sharma, demanding stricter action against incidents of robbery, snatching and other crimes.The protest was led by BJP Ludhiana (rural) president Gagandeep Singh Sunny Kainth and Punjab BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal. The party leaders later submitted a memorandum to police officials outlining their concerns and demands.Addressing protesters, Kainth alleged that incidents of robbery and snatching were increasing and had created a sense of insecurity among residents. He said maintaining public safety and protecting citizens’ lives and property was the primary responsibility of the govt and law enforcement agencies.He further alleged that the rising crime graph had raised concerns over the effectiveness of the state’s law and order machinery. “People want peace and a secure environment. Criminal activities must be curbed and those responsible brought to book,” he said.The BJP leaders demanded immediate measures to check incidents of robbery and snatching and sought strict legal action against offenders.
