Bhubaneswar: BJD on Wednesday accused the BJP govt of trying to suppress controversy over alleged misbehaviour of Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi with a faculty member (chief warden) of Ravenshaw University. BJP, however, countered the charges, requesting BJD to ‘stop playing politics over education’.Addressing the media, BJD functionary Lelin Mohanty alleged that the appointment of a new chief warden, wardens and deputy wardens at the university was aimed at defusing the controversy after around 30 wardens and deputy wardens tendered a mass resignation. Mohanty alleged that the govt was acting under pressure to shield the MLA from accountability.Responding to the charges, BJP spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra said: “Having lost trust of the people of Odisha, BJD is now desperately searching for its political identity at Ravenshaw University. People know how the BJD govt ruined the education system at Ravenshaw. It should stop playing politics over education and allow academic institutions to function without political interference.”
