Bhubaneswar: Karan Adani, managing director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), on Thursday separately met chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and deputy chief minister K V Singh Deo and discussed investments in Odisha’s clean energy sector, including pumped storage, solar and nuclear power projects.The meeting with Singh Deo, attended by additional chief secretary (energy) Vishal Kumar Dev and senior officials, focused on expanding clean energy infrastructure to strengthen the state’s long-term energy security, grid reliability and sustainability goals, a govt statement said.Adani Group reiterated its interest in investing in Odisha’s energy sector and proposed setting up two nuclear power plants of 3,000 MW capacity each. The conglomerate had earlier met Singh Deo, who also holds the energy portfolio, on July 30 and expressed its intent to invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the state’s power sector.Discussions centred on the development of pumped storage plants (PSPs), solar power projects and nuclear energy initiatives to meet Odisha’s growing energy demand. The company also highlighted the need for reliable, carbon-free baseload power alongside renewable energy expansion.Officials said the deliberations explored opportunities to accelerate clean energy deployment and support the state’s transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.
