Varanasi: In a significant move aimed at further development of the south campus of BHU at Barkachha in Mirzapur district, the university has constituted a steering committee for greater and more active participation of faculty members in the day-to-day governance of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus (RGSC). The committee will ensure active contribution from faculty members with the purpose of raising the academic, research, administrative and infrastructural standards of the over 2,700-acre campus.BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said, “We want the South Campus to also grow at the same pace as the North Campus, and this committee will play a pivotal role in achieving the participation of stakeholders for the development of the South Campus.” “The committee will be instrumental in helping the university further improve the research ecosystem and campus infrastructure of RGSC,” he added. The committee will be chaired by the professor in-charge of RGSC, while the deputy registrar/assistant registrar of the campus will serve as the member-secretary. The dean, faculty of veterinary and animal sciences, along with Prof Ashish Singh, Prof Achintya Singhal, Prof Subhash Pratap Singh, Dr Manoj Kumar Singh, Dr Manmath Kumar Nandi, Dr Kuldeep Bauddh, and Prof Rajneesh Kumar Patel will serve as its members.
