Lucknow: Meerut police solved the mysterious deaths of three men in the Daurala area, initially believed to be caused by spurious liquor consumption. Investigations revealed that the deaths were the result of a pre-planned murder conspiracy involving arsenic poisoning. Three accused, including the sister of one of the deceased, have been arrested, police said.On April 3, police were informed that three men — Jitendra, Ankit alias Daulat, and Baburam — had been admitted unconscious to Aryavart Hospital, where they later died during treatment. Senior officials rushed to the spot, and forensic teams collected samples.Initial findings suggested illicit liquor consumption, but laboratory reports ruled out methanol and chloral hydrate, raising suspicion. Detailed analysis of CCTV footage, technical surveillance and local inquiries led investigators to uncover a conspiracy.During interrogation, accused Pawan Ahlawat alias Poli confessed that he, along with Alka — sister of deceased Ankit — hatched the plan. Alka, allegedly distressed by her brother’s abusive behaviour and addiction, conspired to eliminate him. Pawan procured a poisonous chemical from co-accused Ashok Verma for Rs 500 and mixed it into a liquor pouch, which was later consumed by Ankit. The two other victims also drank from the same pouch, leading to their deaths.ADG, Meerut Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar, while describing the case as highly challenging, said, “The case initially appeared to be due to spurious liquor. However, careful forensic analysis and detailed questioning revealed it to be a case of arsenic poisoning by the sister.”
