Mapusa: People of Arambol have started a protest against illegal massage parlors mushrooming in their village. They have demanded a total ban on all massage parlours.The locals on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Arambol panchayat demanding an immediate revocation of licences issued to massage parlours. The agitation, backed by panch member Philpa Fernandes, identified 11 illegal parlours operating across the four coastal wards.Residents allege that many of these establishments are deceptively registered under the names of individuals living abroad or in Mumbai.“We want a total ban on massage parlours, irrespective of ‘training certificates’ or legal veneers,” said former sarpanch Inacio Fernandes.Sarpanch Sushant Gawade said they will shortly take a decision. “During gram sabha on Sunday, we will pass a resolution to ban massage palours,” he said.
