Panaji: The Goa state central library is set to establish libraries at Baina and Curchorem.The Baina library will be housed within the existing Ravindra Bhavan building, which will be renovated and expanded to meet the needs of a public library.Sulaksha Kolmule, curator of the Goa state central library, told TOI that the space allotted to them will undergo extensive work to transform it into a functional library.“We are working with the PWD to create an optimal space inside Ravindra Bhavan for the library. The design plans for the new space were submitted to them, with estimates and a construction timeline now in progress,” Kolmule said.“The goal is to complete the work this year, as the library is expected to be ready to serve the public by the end of 2026,” she said.The upcoming govt library in Curchorem will replace the current rented premises with a new building. Kolmule said the foundation stone is expected to be laid soon.“The file for the Curchorem library is in process, and we are looking forward to laying the foundation stone in this financial year itself,” Kolmule said.
