Udupi: A worker was found dead inside an anganwadi centre in Byndoor of Udupi district on Wednesday. The deceased is Ashwini, 29. A resident of Nagoor village in Byndoor, she had been working as an anganwadi assistant at the Nempu Anganwadi Centre for the past three years.According to the complaint filed by her aunt, Jyothi,44, Ashwini had reported for duty as usual in the morning. Anganwadi teacher Saroja, who also worked at the centre, left at around 3.50pm after asking Ashwini to lock the premises before leaving for home. Later, at 5.30pm, Saroja returned to the centre after realising she had left her child’s toys behind. When she arrived, she found the anganwadi locked from the inside. Despite calling out to Ashwini repeatedly, there was no response, and her mobile phone was switched off.Police said Ashwini is suspected to have died by suicide due to personal or other reasons. An unnatural death report has been registered at Kundapur Rural police station under Section 194 of the BNSS, and further investigation is on.
