Mangaluru: A CISF personnel, who was on leave and had returned to his hometown in Dakshina Kannada, died in a road accident near KPT on National Highway-66 on Wednesday.According to the complaint registered at the Traffic East police station, the deceased has been identified as Seetharam Gowda, who was serving with the CISF and was currently posted at the Central Jail in Jammu. Seetharam had been to his hometown on leave on July 3.On July 7, he had visited his hometown Koila, to submit SIR-related documents. On Wednesday, while riding his motorcycle from Koila towards Mangaluru, Seetharam met with an accident near a hotel at KPT on National Highway-66.His wife, Rohini, stated in her complaint that she received a phone call informing her that her husband had met with an accident, and was asked to rush to the hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, she was informed that Seetharam had sustained grievous injuries in the accident, and had died while being shifted to the hospital. Her nephew, Likhith, who works in Mangaluru, visited the accident spot on his way to the hospital, and gathered information about the incident before informing her.Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) read with Section 184 and Sections 134(a) and 134(b) read with Section 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police said they are investigating whether the accident occurred due to the motorcycle skidding on its own or whether another vehicle was involved.
