Amravati: Amravati rural cops destroyed narcotics worth 4,45,80,000 under ‘Operation Kavach’, a special drive to curb drug trafficking and consumption in the district.Led by Superintendent of Police Niketan Kadam, police raided several places, launched awareness campaigns for the youth and also did community outreach to build a drug-free society. As part of the drive, police destroyed 1,146 kg of seized contraband linked to 47 cases.With permission from Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, the drugs were incinerated at Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd, MIDC Butibori, Nagpur. Addl SP Dutta Totewad, DSP Kiran Wankhede, PI Ashok Landge and PSI Sagar Hatwar coordinated the action.
