Hazaribag: In a rare academic feat, 21-year-old Shaika Jannat of Chatra district has become the third sibling from her family to qualify for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in the last four years, bringing pride to the district and inspiring aspiring doctors across the region.Shaika, daughter of a retired teacher Ahmad Shamim of Noor Nagar in Chatra district, secured 570 marks and an All-India Rank (AIR) of 23,554 in re-NEET-2026 in her third attempt.She followed in the footsteps of her brother Asjad Shamim, who cleared NEET in 2022 and is pursuing his MBBS from R G Kar medical college in Kolkata, and sister Sarba Kausar, who cracked NEET in 2024 and is a student of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi.A former student of Nazareth School, Shaika completed her intermediate from Upendranath Verma Inter College, Chatra, in 2022. “I joined an institute in Patna for medical coaching as I knew that a good coaching institute helps in the preparation for NEET. I got 545 marks in 2024 and 454 in 2025. I moved to Kota in August last year for one year course and finally cracked NEET,” she said.“Discipline, hard work, perseverance, and proper planning helped me clear the block to pursue my dreams,” she stressed.A proud Ahmad said, “The success stories of my three children would definitely inspire others to pursue their dreams and work hard to achieve those.”Former principal of the Upendranath Verma Inter College, Chatra, Sanjay Kumar said, “It’s a matter of pride for the college as well as for Chatra. Shaika was always a meritorious student.”Another notable success story emerged from Mayurhand block in Chatra district, where Sana Aryan, 19, of Suhai village cleared NEET-2026 in her very first attempt. Daughter of audit officer Shiv Kumar Singh, Sana completed her matriculation from DAV Public School and schooling from St Augustine Senior Secondary School, both in Hazaribag.Satyam Kumar Yadav, 22, of Panchmadhav village in Barhi block of Hazaribag district, scored 615 out of 720 marks, securing AIR 5,969. Son of transport businessman Lakhan Gope and homemaker Kalyani Devi, Satyam credited his parents and teachers for his success and advised students to work consistently towards their goals.
