Ahmedabad: Civil Hospital on Sunday submitted a report to Shahibaug police investigating the liquor permit scam at the hospital. Sources, said the perpetrators issued 257 fake receipts between April 1 last year and this year. Preliminary probe puts the scope of the scam to around Rs 50 lakh.Under a probe committee, staff members matched the receipts with counterfoils they had and found that 257 did not match. It is believed that the receipts were duplicates. Instead of online payment, the accused took cash from applicants. New liquor permit costs Rs 2,50,000 while renewals cost Rs 20,000. The amount should be deposited in the patient welfare committee’s account. Three arrests have been made so far in the case, sources said. tnn
