Ahmedabad: Following the implementation of the model code of conduct, the AMC has launched a citywide drive to remove illegal advertisements. As of Sunday, the civic body has cleared 121 hoardings, 142 banners, and 208 flags across various zones. The West Zone recorded significant activity, with 46 hoardings and 50 banners being removed.Parallelly, the West Zone’s solid waste management department conducted a three-day intensive crackdown on sanitation violators and banned plastics. Flying squads inspected 519 units and issued notices to 314 establishments, collecting Rs 2.8 lakh in administrative charges. Seizures included 10.5kg of prohibited plastic, while eight units —including Vir Krupa Refree Parlor in Nava Vadaj and Magnum Parlor in Chandkheda — were sealed for creating public nuisance. Officials stated that such drives, supported by public awareness campaigns, will continue to ensure hygiene compliance.
