Gandhinagar: The state govt said on Sunday that canteens operated by the state labour and employment department and by social institutions are being provided with LPG cylinders. In addition, a provision for 5-kg cylinders has been made for workers. So far, more than 54,000 5-kg cylinders have been distributed, govt said. The arrangements have been made in view of the LPG shortage because of the ongoing West Asia conflict. The state govt said that a system for kerosene distribution in rural areas of the state has been set up in coordination with oil marketing companies and the kerosene dealers association.An official statement said that the central govt has allocated 1,452 kilolitres (KL) of kerosene to the state and the state govt has allocated 36KL of kerosene to all districts in the state. The statement added that every family will be eligible for 5 litres and institutions will get 25 litres of kerosene.Govt said that two storage depots have been designated in Baroda and Palanpur for kerosene storage in the state and kerosene will be distributed from one petrol pump in every taluka. The pricing of kerosene has been determined by considering transportation and other expenses, set between 61.4 and 66.1 per litre, govt said.Govt claimed that very low migration of workers has been observed in the Surat industrial zone, which includes Valsad and Navsari. Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi held a meeting with district administration officers and representatives of industries of South Gujarat to take stock of the availability of LPG cylinders for workers of industrial units.
