Vadodara: Indian Administrative Service officer and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd managing director Shalini Agarwal will take charge as administrator of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) from Tuesday.Agarwal has earlier served as district collector and VMC commissioner. She was later appointed the municipal commissioner of Surat, from where she was transferred to GUVNL as MD. She was appointed as the VMC administrator on Saturday.The VMC earlier functioned without elected representatives in 2020, when polls were delayed due to the Covid pandemic and the term of its councillors expired. P Swaroop, who was the VMC commissioner in 2020, was appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of the VMC at that time. This time, the delay in elections is due to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
