Rajkot: Isudan Gadhvi, Gujarat president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with 31 others, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly creating a disturbance and obstructing police on duty at the Jamkhambhaliya Police Station.Gadhvi and his supporters had reached the police station to advocate for Deepak, a Bihar native currently residing in Khambhaliya, who was booked in a robbery case on March 31. According to police, Deepak allegedly snatched a labourer’s gold chain following a heated argument triggered by a road rage incident.Deputy SP Vismay Mehta of the Jamkhambhaliya division said Gadhvi, along with Ramji Parmar, Kheraj Rudach and others, allegedly misbehaved with the police station officer, tried to exert pressure on the police and attempted to influence the ongoing investigation. “He also went live on Facebook and WhatsApp and tried to create chaos,” Mehta said.Police said Sub-Inspector U. K. Jadav advised the group that they could submit their representation in writing. However, when they did not relent, Jadav lodged a complaint under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to rioting and obstruction of public servants in the discharge of duty.
